Coronavirus vaccine 'to be trialled in the near future'
Infectious Diseases Specialist and Associate Professor at the Australian National University Sanjaya Senanayake has spoken with Sky News about the threat of coronavirus and has given an update of a possible vaccine to combat it. The number of people who have contracted the disease has exceeded 90,000 worldwide, with 3,000 deaths.Over 90 per cent of the fatalities have been recorded in China, as the government struggles to contain the virus. The World Health Organisation said on Sunday that the death rate coronavirus appears to be between two and five per cent."I think compared to SARS, the extent or infectiousness of this virus is far more apparent," Mr Senanayake told Sky News host Paul Murray. He said "in about four to six weeks" human trails will be conducted in the US for a coronavirus vaccine.
